Kings Go Forth was an unlikely and kismet collaboration between producer Andy Nobleowner of Lotus Land Records and general man about town in Milwaukee, Wisconsinand the singer Black Wolf, whose bona fides date back to the regional soul act the Essentials (they were on Curtis Mayfields label Curtom Records in the 70s). Together with their 10-member, intergenerational soul band, they perfected complex grooves that elegantly highlighted Black Wolfs high-flying vocalsattracting notable fans like DJ Shadow and Tom Moulton, the man who invented the 12-inch disco track (and also remixed Kings Go Forth's single "Don't Take My Shadow").
